Repair procedure for diaphragm regulator
- Remove the large front cap from valve body. Following this, remove the compression spring "A" and the thrust ring "B". After this is accomplished, remove rubber diaphragm and piston assembly "D". When removing diaphragm-piston assembly, a small amount of water may leak from behind the diaphragm, but is not necessary to shut off supply since the stop is up stream from the stream control valve.
- Using a broad bladed screwdriver, unscrew regulator bushing "C" witch is in the bottom center of the regulator chamber.
- Use all parts contained in diaphragm replacement kit NO. 60-08050-51-550. First, screw the new regulator bushing "C" firmly in place. Then, insert the new diaphragm-piston assembly "D" and place large thrush ring "B" against the rubber diaphragm. Make sure the thrust ring is pressed firmly in place. Place compression spring "A" on the adjusting screw spud on the inside of the large front cap. Screw on the large front cap.
- Adjust the steam height to approximately 1-1/2" above the projector guard by turning the adjusting screw. Turn adjusting screw clockwise to raise and counterclockwise to lower the projector stream height. You will note that at the height of approximately 1-1/2", the two streams of water will merge to form a large mound of water for witch Halsey Taylor is so famous.
- This regulator maintains a uniform stream height when pressure may require installation of a pressure reducing valve in the supply line.
